# AIDE Local Daemon

The daemon is the native boundary for the future desktop shell. It owns no model weights and has no remote fallback.

## Current Endpoints

- `GET /health`: local health and workspace path
- `GET /api/workspace`: bounded top-level workspace listing
- `GET /api/git/status`: read-only Git status

It binds to `127.0.0.1` only. It does not expose arbitrary shell execution, arbitrary file reads, network access, credentials, or write operations. Those capabilities require separate permission-gated APIs and tests.

## Run

```bash
AIDE_WORKSPACE=/path/to/project node daemon/server.mjs
```

The default port is `4777`; override it with `AIDE_DAEMON_PORT`.
