Why We Built It

Caring for an elderly loved one is an expression of compassion and commitment, but it often comes with an unexpected challenge: managing an endless stream of paperwork. Medical bills, insurance explanations of benefits (EOBs), prescription updates, and legal notices can quickly become overwhelming. For many caregivers, the administrative burden adds significant stress and contributes to burnout.

We recognized a clear need for a solution that could simplify this process while maintaining the highest standards of privacy. Elder Care Copilot was created to help families regain control of caregiving documents without compromising sensitive health or financial information.

What It Does

Elder Care Copilot is an offline, AI-powered document assistant built specifically for caregiving workflows. Users can upload PDFs, images, or text files, and the system processes them entirely on local hardware using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and an embedded Large Language Model (LLM).

The assistant automatically:

  • Classifies documents by urgency (🔴 Urgent vs. 🟢 For Your Information)
  • Generates concise summaries for quick understanding
  • Extracts important dates and deadlines
  • Enables caregivers to ask natural-language questions about document contents

Instead of sorting through stacks of paperwork manually, caregivers can instantly access the information they need when they need it.

Our Mission

The goal of Elder Care Copilot is simple: give caregivers back their time and peace of mind.

By operating completely offline, the system ensures that highly sensitive medical and financial information never leaves the user's device. What was once a stressful pile of documents becomes an organized, searchable, and actionable digital inbox.

Ultimately, Elder Care Copilot empowers families to spend less time managing paperwork and more time focusing on what matters most—caring for and spending meaningful time with their loved ones.
