The Un-Translator: Turning Everyday Inconveniences into Cosmic Tragedies

Turning everyday inconveniences into cosmic tragedies 🌑✨

For my latest hackathon submission, I decided to take the prompt "Wander somewhere weirder" literally. I built The Un-Translator, an AI-powered text RPG that translates mundane complaints (like "My Wi-Fi is down") into epic, Dark Souls-style mythological despair.

While the concept is ridiculous, the technical stack is seriously polished: 🧠 Tiny Models: Powered by a custom fine-tuned Qwen2.5-3B model (with LoRA). ⚡ Fully Local Inference: Runs locally through llama.cpp—proving you don't need massive cloud APIs to build an immersive AI experience. 🎨 Immaculate Vibes: Built a highly customized Gradio UI featuring CSS-animated SVG Tarot cards, custom gothic fonts, and a Web Audio API synthesizer for atmospheric sound effects.

It's a great demonstration of how smaller, specialized open-source models (≤ 4B parameters) can be fine-tuned to carry the core mechanics of an application.

Let me know what minor inconvenience you want The Un-Translator to mythologize next!
