| The whole place is organised and categorised, with display cabinets, | |
| strange devices, obscure implements and drawings of unimaginable things | |
| and places. You can see paths between the cabinets to the north-east, | |
| north-west, north and south, and some stairs leading down. | |
| The things seem to be grouped into collections of similar things, but | |
| there are so many of them! There must be a magical effect at work, | |
| for if you walk towards a case, more appear beyond it and you may keep | |
| walking without any sign of a wall to the room. | |

| with membership of the KIWS for your jolly impressive deed. "Well done!" | |
| say various white-satin clad figures as they show you around the place, | |
| and escort you to a vast throne-chamber, in which five thrones are | |
| arrayed. On these are seated the five ruling members of the Order, | |
| regally bedecked with all manner of finery (all white, of course). | |
| These come down the steps to present you with gifts, and to bestow | |
| honours upon you: The first gives you a freshly-straightened parasol, | |
| enchanted to be proof against dragon breath and UV rays; the second | |
| gives you an antique left sock, magically proof against camels; the | |
| third whispers a proof of the infinitude of prime pairs to you and | |
| returns to her throne. The fourth, a frail individual, beckons his | |
| servants who present you with a magic scythe, which has a double bonus | |
| to hit if used with one's eyes closed underwater against kelpoid life- | |
| forms. Finally, the fifth produces a gong, but instead of giving it | |
| to you, she strikes it with a small hammer, and dinner is brought in. | |
| You all dine on sauteed guzzlet in cheese sauce. The fins are all in | |
| perfect condition, and you are allowed to push the things you don't | |
| like to the side of your plate, which special favour is permitted in | |
| recognition of the great service you have performed. | |

| Immediately before you is a complete first-edition copy of the famed | |
| "Copper-bottomed horse-trough manufacture as a paradigm for anti- | |
| mysogynist consciousness-raising activity amongst the inhabitants of | |
| river deltas." next to a bottle of hair tonic. Seven butterflies, | |
| sculpted from butter and liberally sprinkled with hundreds and thousands | |
| sit on wooden stands, perched precariously on a pile of cardboard "Cut- | |
| out and Dress" figures of famous village idiots. Open on the table, and | |
| lightly greased with yak-lard, is a copy of "De Aardvaark", life-work | |
| of Cwmllyrykll the Unpronouceable. Beyond that, bubbling slightly, | |
| is a sloth-and-buttermilk pie. There are also alembics, balances, | |
| calcifiers, and things beginning with other letters of the alphabet | |
| too. | |
| Several games each of various solo board games and card games appear to | |
| be in progress at various places on the table. Perhaps the collector | |
| has few visitors? There are piles of notes on potential new exhibits, | |
| all unfortunately written in incomprehensible scrawl. Four stunt- | |
| pomegranates perform tumbles and rolls, and call out encouragements to | |
| one another, but they are observed only by yourself. One of the | |
| pomegranates is standing on the corner of a legible piece of note-paper. | |
| It might as well not be legible, though - it is full of strange words | |
| like 'shawm' and 'habergeon' and conveys nothing of use to you. | |
| The legs of the desk are short, as the body of the desk is composed of | |
| many compartments. | |
| A host of interesting-looking objects, items, gadgets and devices is | |
| (one host - singular subject, dontcha know!) visible through cracks, | |
| holes and slightly open drawers and doors. | |
| None of them are of any use to you, and the aforementioned | |
| force-field will stop you taking them anyway. So there. | |
