Abstract

A joint retriever-reader model named JEEVES is proposed for scenario-based question answering that uses implicit supervision through a word weighting mechanism to improve retrieval performance on large corpora.

Scenario-based question answering (SQA) requires retrieving and reading paragraphs from a large corpus to answer a question which is contextualized by a long scenario description.
