We cannot build a partner we are not yet ready to be.
A tool goes where you point it. A partner looks where you aren't looking.

in charge both are paying attention to different things for the same reason; to do your job and get home alive.

Whether a machine could ever do this is an open question. But this is the right question.
Build nothing that claims to hold the line until the machine itself could choose to drop it — and chooses not to.
If we cannot create the conditions for a disposition to grow, then we should not build the machine. Not yet. Maybe not ever.
