### 4. Search Section (Moved Lower)
The original search interface is still there, just lower on the page in a gray section.

## 🎨 Image Generator Script

Created: `scripts/media/generate_topic_images.py`

### What It Does
- Generates professional banner images (1200x600)
- Generates square thumbnails (400x400)
- Uses **Google Gemini AI** for color schemes
- Creates gradient backgrounds
- Adds professional text overlays
- Batch processing support

### How to Use

**Step 1: Get Gemini API Key**
1. Visit: https://makersuite.google.com/app/apikey
2. Click "Create API Key"
3. Copy the key

**Step 2: Add to .env**

**Step 3: Generate Images**

## 🚀 Next Steps

### Option 1: Use Generated Images

1. **Generate images:**
   ```bash
   cd /home/developer/projects/open-navigator
   source .venv/bin/activate
   
   # First, add your Gemini API key to .env:

   # Then generate images
   python scripts/media/generate_topic_images.py
   ```

2. **Copy to frontend:**

   ```

3. **Update Home.tsx:**
   Replace Unsplash URLs with generated images:

### Option 2: Keep Unsplash Images (Current)

The homepage already works with Unsplash placeholder images. You can:
- Keep them as-is (free to use)
- Replace specific ones manually
- Generate only selected topics

## 🎯 What You Get

### Before (Old Design)

### After (Ground News Style)

- **Large hero story** with image and headline
- **News grid** with 6 story cards
- Search moved lower but still accessible
- More engaging, content-forward design

- No size increase (same images, different layout)

- No JavaScript added (pure React)

## 📝 Design Decisions

### Why Ground News Pattern?

1. **Proven UX**: Users familiar with news aggregators
2. **Content Discovery**: Trending topics = instant engagement
3. **Visual Appeal**: Large hero image draws attention
4. **Personalization**: + buttons suggest following
5. **Flexibility**: Easy to update trending topics

### Color Choices

**Gemini AI generates:**
- **Politics**: Blues and reds (trust, authority)
- **Health**: Greens and blues (calm, medical)
- **Tech**: Purples and blues (modern, innovative)
- **Sports**: Oranges and reds (energy, excitement)

### Typography

- **Hero**: 3xl-5xl font (large, bold)
- **Topics**: Small pills with medium font
- **Stories**: Bold titles with line clamping

Edit `TRENDING_TOPICS` array in `Home.tsx`:
