# Free D&D Combat Tracker

This Space is a free **DnD combat tracker** that runs an entire D&D 5e battle in
the browser — initiative order, hit points, all fifteen conditions, and a round
counter — with zero setup and no signup. It is not just a turn-order list: it
manages the whole fight, from "roll initiative" to "the boss drops."

## Features

- **Initiative order, automatically sorted** — highest to lowest, with tied
initiatives kept in the order you added them so the board never reshuffles
mid-combat. Adding a combatant mid-fight re-sorts the board while keeping the
current turn pointed at the right creature.
- **Hit point tracking** — damage and healing per combatant, always clamped
between 0 and max HP and displayed as `7/12`. When a PC hits 0, the tracker
auto-marks them *Unconscious* (death saves!); when an enemy hits 0, it marks
them *Down* and dims the row. Healing above 0 clears both automatically.
- **Every 5e condition, plus Concentrating** — Blinded through Unconscious as
toggleable chips on each row. Concentrating is included because forgotten
concentration saves are the most common bookkeeping mistake at real tables.
- **Rounds and turns** — Next Turn advances down the order, wraps to the top,
and increments the round; a Back button covers "wait, I had a bonus action."
- **A built-in example encounter** — one click loads a goblin ambush (four
adventurers, three goblins, one goblin boss) so you can try every control
  before session night.
- **Markdown export** — one-click copy or a `.md` download of the full
encounter table for Obsidian, Notion, or your campaign log.

## How it works

Add each combatant with a name, side (PC, Ally, or Enemy), initiative, max HP,
and optional AC. The battle board shows the sorted order with the current turn
highlighted. Select any combatant to apply damage or healing, toggle a
condition, or remove them. The round banner always tells you whose turn it is.

## Worked example

Load the example encounter and Fenwick Thistledown (initiative 21) opens against
Grubnash the goblin boss (17). Round 1: Sera shield-bashes Grubnash for 9 —
his HP reads 12/21 — and toggles *Prone* onto his row. Round 2: a goblin
skirmisher hits 0 and is automatically struck through and dimmed. Round 3:
Korga drops the boss, the board shows three rows down, and the whole fight —
round, order, HP, conditions — exports to Markdown in one click. The full
narrated walkthrough is on the page below the tracker.

## Privacy

Your encounter is saved to your browser's localStorage, on your own device, so
a mid-fight tab refresh doesn't wipe the battle. Nothing is uploaded to any
server, there is no account, and clearing your browser data clears the
encounter. This tool is fully deterministic — **no AI is involved**; every
behavior (sorting, clamping, auto-conditions at 0 HP) is fixed and predictable.

## Unofficial fan tool

This is an unofficial fan tool. Dungeons & Dragons and D&D are trademarks of
Wizards of the Coast LLC. This project is not affiliated with, endorsed, or
sponsored by Wizards of the Coast. The tracker is rules-light by design and
works with both D&D 5e (2014) and the 2024 (5.5e) revision — the condition
list is shared between editions — as well as most other d20 systems.

## Built by Loreify

This tracker is built and maintained by [Loreify](https://loreify.ai), the AI
session scribe for D&D groups: record or upload your session audio and Loreify
turns it into organized notes — NPCs, quests, loot, locations, and lore —
automatically. Run the fight here;
[Loreify](https://loreify.ai/start-trial?utm_source=huggingface&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=dnd_combat_tracker&utm_content=readme)
remembers how it actually went down. 7-day free trial.
