Give it a one-line concept — or nothing at all — and it builds a complete, playable custom monster: identity, lore, a full stat block, named traits and actions, tactics for running it, and the loot the party finds afterward. ## What it builds Every build returns a classic stat-block layout as structured, editable Markdown: - **Name and identity line** — size, creature type, and alignment in the official stat-block format - **Lore** — one to two paragraphs of description and ecology to narrate before initiative is rolled - **Armor Class, Hit Points (with dice formula), and Speed** - **Ability scores** with modifiers precomputed - **Saves, skills, and defenses** — resistances, immunities, and vulnerabilities spelled out - **Senses and languages**, including passive Perception - **Challenge line** — CR, XP value, and proficiency bonus for encounter budgeting - **1-4 named traits and 2-5 actions** written in rules language, with attack bonuses and save DCs that follow from the stat block - **Tactics** — the section most generators skip: how the monster opens, who it targets, what it does when bloodied, and when it flees - **Loot** — what the party finds on the corpse or in the lair Output comes with one-click copy and a `.md` download, so it drops straight into Obsidian, Notion, your VTT, or printed prep notes. ## Inputs Monster concept, challenge rating target (1/8 through 20), size (Tiny to Gargantuan), creature type (Aberration through Undead), combat role (Brute, Skirmisher, Artillery, Controller, Lurker, Leader, or Minion swarm), environment, and free-form extra notes. **Every field is optional** — blanks become creative freedom, and the Surprise Me button rolls a buildable combination for you. ## Example > **Drownlight Scuttler** — a Large monstrosity (CR 3, 700 XP): a rowboat-sized > crab grown around a ship's brass lantern that burns with the last memories of > drowned sailors. AC 14, 58 hit points, +5 claws that grapple, an incapacitating > memory-aura, and a recharge action that drinks a cherished memory for psychic > damage. Its tactics: pose as a distant navigation light, let prey wade close, > and drag whoever fails their save toward deep water. The full stat block — with all traits, actions, tactics, and loot — is on the page below the builder. ## How challenge rating is handled When you set a CR target, the builder designs inside that CR's expected band for armor class, hit points, attack bonus, save DCs, and damage, following the Dungeon Master's Guide monster-building guidance and the shape of published monsters. It also keeps the numbers internally consistent: hit-point dice average to the stated total, attack bonuses and DCs derive from the ability scores and proficiency bonus, and XP matches the CR. The output is tuned to your target CR — sanity-check it at the table, cross-reference the DMG's statistics-by-CR table for anything that anchors a whole session, and adjust after the first round of play like any monster designer would. ## AI output and fan-content disclaimer Monsters are AI-generated drafts. Review the numbers, edit freely, and adapt anything that doesn't fit your table or edition.
