Heart: Hi Lily. Hi Daniel. May I join you?
|
| 2 |
+
Daniel: Of course, you can. Have a seat, Linda.
|
| 3 |
+
Lily: That's a lot of food you've got on that tray, Linda! You must be starving!
|
| 4 |
+
Heart: Yes, I am really hungry. I overslept this morning. So, I had to skip breakfast.
|
| 5 |
+
Daniel: Couldn't you get some breakfast here? The canteen opens at 8.
|
| 6 |
+
Heart: Yes, that's what I should have done, but I thought I could last until lunchtime.
|
| 7 |
+
Lily: I can't function without breakfast. I must always eat something before I leave home.
|
| 8 |
+
Daniel: I can easily skip breakfast. I don't feel hungry until lunchtime.
|
| 9 |
+
Heart: I may make it to about 11, but then I get really irritable.
|
| 10 |
+
Lily: I'm the same. This irritability must have something to do with sugar levels.
|
| 11 |
+
Daniel: Then, you girls should make sure you never miss any meals.
|
| 12 |
+
Lily: That's easier said than done, Daniel. I was so busy last week, I must have missed quite a few meals.
|
| 13 |
+
Lily: You were particularly irritable at Monday's meeting. You must have had a tough weekend.
|
| 14 |
+
Heart: Yes, the weekend was really exhausting. I had to take care of three young kids all by myself.
|
| 15 |
+
Daniel: You could have taken Monday off. Why didn't you?
|
| 16 |
+
Heart: Yes, in retrospect, I ought to have taken Monday off. I hope I didn't upset anyone.
|
| 17 |
+
Lily: You certainly needn't worry about upsetting us, but you may have offended Jenny.
|
| 18 |
+
Heart: Oh! That must be why she's been avoiding me. Do you think I should apologise to her?
|
| 19 |
+
Daniel: That might be a good idea. You should at least let her know that you were exhausted.
|
| 20 |
+
Lily: I agree. She doesn't know you very well. She might have taken it personally.
|
| 21 |
+
Heart: Then, I must speak with her as soon as possible. Where do you think I might find her now?
|
| 22 |
+
Daniel: She was having lunch here earlier. She should be back in her office now.
