feat(intake): a wall on the way in, and the portal spine beside it

Browse files

22,487 journalled signals held 2,255 distinct things. One typewriter post
arrived 168 times, and a run of dev.to posts sold aged Gmail accounts. Asking
an honest question returned the loudest thing rather than the truest one,
because arrival was the only thing being counted.

Intake refuses three facts anyone can check — already here, nothing said,
selling — and names which one. A duplicate still touches the copy already held,
because a feed re-sending its front page is alive and refusing it silently
would make the frequency read as dead. The fingerprint rides on the signal, or
a registry keeps refusing content it no longer holds. Filler can no longer
learn a trail: a trail is permanent and was read back with no threshold, so one
lucky score for "also" answered for "also" forever.

The portal spine rides along inert — nothing imports it yet. orgs, portal,
polymesh and outreach are additive, and signalmesh_api is untouched, so this
deploy changes exactly one live path: what is allowed onto the air.

+ """core/intake.py — what is allowed onto the air.
2
+
3
+ The mesh was never failing to match. It was faithfully carrying whatever it was
4
+ handed, and it had been handed a great deal of nothing: 22,487 journalled
5
+ signals holding 2,255 distinct things, one typewriter post repeated 168 times,
6
+ and a run of dev.to posts about buying aged Gmail accounts. A reader asking an
7
+ honest question got the loudest thing rather than the truest one, because
8
+ frequency of arrival is not evidence of worth and nothing here was measuring
9
+ the difference.
10
+
11
+ So this is the intake wall, and it takes the same shape as `may_contact` and
12
+ `portal.act`: one place, no way around it, refuses rather than repairs. Three
13
+ reasons a signal is turned away.
14
+
15
+ already here the same content on the same frequency
16
+ nothing said a payload with no content in it
17
+ selling the account-farm spam that rides public dev feeds
18
+
19
+ It is deliberately narrow. A quality score would be a filter someone has to
20
+ trust; these are three facts anyone can check, and each refusal says which one
21
+ it was. R4's rule again: report, never silently rewrite — a signal that was
22
+ quietly cleaned up is a signal nobody knows was wrong.
23
+
24
+ The one thing it does not do is judge whether content is *true*. A feed is an
25
+ untrusted input channel, and text arriving from one is written by strangers who
26
+ know a model may read it. That is what `trusted=False` is for — `polymesh`
27
+ marks what neighbours hand over for exactly the same reason.

2
+ core/matrix.py — the seventy-two are already on the grid. This is what they know.
3
+
4
+ `agents/matrix_agents.json` has been the grid's own census since spatial_grid.py
5
+ first read it: seventy-two specialists, one per node, nine rows of eight. Every
6
+ `/ui/grid` cell that lights up lights up under somebody's name. But the names
7
+ were decoration — the node had an occupant and the occupant never said anything.
8
+
9
+ This module gives them the seat they were already sitting in.
10
+
11
+ THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A ROSTER AND A MATRIX
12
+
13
+ A roster is a list of who exists. You pick one and you get a persona: a
14
+ paragraph of costume, which any model can wear without knowing anything it
15
+ did not already know. That is a prompt library with extra steps.
16
+
17
+ A matrix is a list of who exists *somewhere*. Each specialist here has a
18
+ node, the node has a coordinate, the coordinate is where the mesh files
19
+ what it hears. So seating a specialist is not a costume change — it is
20
+ handing a model the persona AND the material that landed at that address.
21
+ Node 0 is the Backend Architect and node 0 is also where anything tuned to
22
+ "backend-architect" got filed. Same address. Superpowered means the persona
23
+ arrives with its post.
24
+
25
+ WHY SEATING IS RANKED, NOT CHOSEN
26
+
27
+ Nobody names an agent when they ask a question. They describe a problem,
28
+ and the mesh already knows which coordinates that description lights up.
29
+ `seat()` scores the ask against what each specialist declares it does and
30
+ hands back the best few — with the tokens that earned it, so a wrong seat
31
+ is visible rather than mysterious.
32
+
33
+ Zero matches returns nothing at all. A specialist seated at random is worse
34
+ than no specialist: it is a confident voice with no reason to be that voice,
35
+ and crew.py's whole bar is that an answer has to come from somewhere.
36
+
37
+ WHAT THIS DELIBERATELY DOES NOT DO
38
+
39
+ It does not hydrate per specialist. crew.py seats N providers around ONE
40
+ look at the world because N hydrations for N opinions is the cost this
41
+ system exists to avoid. A specialist brief rides on top of that shared
42
+ windscreen; the only thing it adds privately is what is already filed at
43
+ its own node, which is a local read and costs nothing.

+ """core/orgs.py — one organisation, one database file.
2
+
3
+ Isolation here is physical, not a WHERE clause. Every organisation's outreach
4

5
+ before any query runs. A forgotten scope in some future query cannot leak
6
+ another tenant's leads, because the other tenant's rows were never in the
7
+ database that query was looking at. That is the whole reason to prefer this
8
+ over an `org_id` column: the failure mode of the column version is silent and
9
+ the failure mode of this one is an empty result.
10
+
11
+ The registry itself — which organisations exist, who belongs to them — is the
12
+ one shared table, and it deliberately holds no operational data.
13
+
14
+ An organisation's file does not have to live here. `db_path` lets one point at
15
+ a volume, a mounted share, or a machine the client runs themselves; the mesh
16
+ keeps the address and they keep the goods, which is `keep.py`'s rule again. The

+ """core/polymesh.py — many meshes, one owner, and the doors between them.
2
+
3
+ The grid holds 72 cells because `_node_idx` maps every frequency onto
4
+ `rows × cols`, and it is full. Widening it would move every place in the world
5
+ to a new node, which is a large price for one more specialist. The cheaper
6
+ answer is that a full mesh is not a mesh that needs to be bigger — it is a mesh
7
+ that needs a neighbour. Clone the Space, get another 72, and address across.
8
+
9
+ So this module answers three questions and refuses to answer a fourth:
10
+
11
+ who am I identity(), read from the Space that runs us
12
+ who is kin peers attested by the poly-mesh owner
13
+ what crosses a read-only surface, narrowed by trust
14
+ ...is what a peer told me true — no. It is what a peer told me.
15
+
16
+ That last one is the load-bearing part. A contact point between meshes is an
17
+ untrusted input channel wearing a trusted costume: a peer can hand over signals
18
+ whose text is written to be read by a model, and if those arrive indistinguish-
19
+ able from local truth then the neighbour writes our conclusions. So anything
20
+ received keeps `via` on it forever, is never merged into the local registry, and
21
+ can never cause an actuator to fire. Peers exchange what they know. They do not
22
+ exchange authority.
23
+
24
+ Attestation is a shared secret held by meshes the same person owns, not PKI.
25
+ That is the honest shape of "these are all mine": symmetric, simple, and no
26
+ weaker than the environment it lives in.
