This document summarizes the changes and additions made during the implementation of **Phase 6: Cloud Persistence**.
## Overview
Phase 6 introduced database-backed features using Supabase for authenticated users, while strictly preserving the existing editor architecture and maintaining offline/guest functionality.
---
## 1. Documents Persistence (Phase 6.1)
**Goal:** Allow users to save, load, and manage their documents in the cloud.
### Files Created:
* `src/js/documents-cloud/documents-api.js` (Supabase CRUD operations)
* `src/js/documents-cloud/documents-state.js` (In-memory state manager)
* `src/js/documents-cloud/documents-ui.js` (DOM interaction and auto-save logic)
### UI Additions (`src/index.html` & `src/css/components.css`):
* **Sidebar Drawer (`#docs-sidebar`):** A collapsible right-side drawer named "مستنداتي" (My Documents) to list saved documents.
* **Toolbar Additions:**
* A button to toggle the sidebar.
* A document title indicator (`#doc-current-title`).
* A manual save button (`#doc-save-btn`) that pulses yellow when there are unsaved changes.
### Key Behaviors:
* **Auto-save:** Automatically triggers every 60 seconds if the document has unsaved changes.
* **Guest Fallback:** If a guest user opens the sidebar, they see a prompt to sign in with Google instead of an empty list or errors.
---
## 2. Saved Summaries (Phase 6.2)
**Goal:** Allow users to save their generated summaries and view a history of past summaries.
### Files Created:
* `src/js/summaries/summaries-api.js` (Supabase CRUD for summaries)
* `src/js/summaries/summaries-ui.js` (History panel UI and save logic)
### UI Additions:
* **Save Button (`#save-summary-btn`):** Added to the summary card next to the "Copy" button.
* **History Panel (`#summary-history-panel`):** An accordion-style section added to the bottom of the "التلخيص" (Summarize) tab to view past summaries, preview them, and delete them.
---
## 3. Settings Sync (Phase 6.3)
**Goal:** Synchronize user preferences (specifically the UI Theme) across devices.
### Files Created:
* `src/js/settings-sync/settings-api.js` (Supabase Upsert/Read for user settings)
* `src/js/settings-sync/settings-sync.js` (Synchronization orchestrator)
### Changes to Existing Code (`src/js/theme.js`):
* Modified the `setTheme()` function to dispatch a custom `bayan:themechange` event.
### Key Behaviors:
* **Debounced Saves:** When the theme is changed, it waits 1.5 seconds before syncing to Supabase to prevent spamming the database if the user clicks rapidly.
* **Auto-Load:** Upon login, the app fetches the user's saved theme from the database and automatically applies it, overriding the local device default.
---
## HTML Integration (`src/index.html`)
All the new modules were wired into the main application:
1. Script tags were added to the `<head>` section.
2. The `DOMContentLoaded` event was updated to initialize the new cloud modules (`initSettingsSync()`, `initDocumentsCloud()`, `initSummaries()`).
3. The DOM structure was updated surgically via PowerShell scripts to insert the new UI elements cleanly without disrupting the existing flexbox layouts.
## Architectural Constraints Maintained
* `src/js/renderer.js` and `src/js/selection.js` remain completely **untouched**.
* The core editor loop (User Types → `getEditorText()` → `/api/analyze` → `render()` → `setEditorHTML()` → `restoreSelection()`) was not modified.
* Cloud persistence APIs only interact with the editor via the safe, established boundary methods (`getEditorText()` and `loadDocumentText()`).
