## About MsingiAI

MsingiAI is an African AI research organization dedicated to developing **culturally aware artificial intelligence** that understands African languages, contexts, and values. We pioneer frameworks that go beyond translation to embed **cultural intelligence and safety** into AI systems. 

At the core of our work is **Constitutional AI for Cultural Safety**—a research-driven approach that treats African cultural context as a first-class requirement, ensuring AI systems behave in ways that respect diverse communities. 

## What We Work On

### Research Priorities

* **Constitutional AI and Cultural Safety**: Developing AI safety frameworks that incorporate African cultural contexts from first principles. 
* **Bias & Fairness in African AI**: Creating new fairness metrics tailored to multilingual, culturally varied African settings. 
* **Low-Resource Language Models**: Building models from scratch (such as Swahili-centered architectures that do not rely on Western pre-training). 

### Community & Collaboration

We build research networks that bring together:

* Cultural and language experts
* AI researchers and engineers
* Community validators for testing and feedback
