# Unkad Labs

**Unkad** — Somali for *creation from nothing*. It shares a root with *unug*, the cell:
large things assembled from small units, contribution by contribution.

We are a non-profit AI research laboratory in **Mogadishu, Somalia**, building the Somali
language into the age of AI:

- **[Qor Af-Soomaali](https://qor.unkad.com)** — our community platform where Somali
  speakers write, translate, and validate text across sectors and dialects (Maxaa tiri
  and Maay). Peer-validated, linguist-verified, released openly.
- **Safety & alignment research** — benchmarks, refusal evaluations, and red-teaming
  methodology for Somali and other low-resource languages, shared with the broader
  alignment community.

Everything we release here is **CC BY-SA 4.0**, with contributors credited exactly as
they consented to be. The corpus belongs to the Somali-speaking world.
