| ZOI 1.0 is an application within the CarbConnect platform. This app streamlines antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) by automating the measurement of inhibition zones on agar plates. |
| It analyzes plate images to identify antimicrobial disks and determine areas where bacterial growth is inhibited, delivering fast and reliable results for microbiology workflows. |
| Designed for microbiologists and researchers, the app enhances accuracy and efficiency in laboratory and research settings. |
| ## Intended Uses and Limitations |
| ZOI 1.0 is strictly intended for **Research Use Only (RUO)**. |
| It is **not** intended for: |
| - clinical diagnostics |
| - medical procedures |
| - patient management |
| - therapeutic selection |
| - any regulated medical use |
| For further details, please refer to the ZOI 1.0 Learn More page on CarbConnect. |
| ## How to Use |
| A video tutorial demonstrating how to use the app is available on YouTube. |
| ## Training Data |
| Antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) was conducted at **CarbGeM Inc.** using representative bacterial strains, antimicrobial disks, and Mueller-Hinton agar. |
| To generate the training dataset, approximately **300 images** of agar plates were captured using various smartphone camera models. |
| ## Evaluation Results |
| We evaluated the model using a test dataset comprising **66 images** with a total of **238 antimicrobial disks**. |
| The model achieved: |
| - **98.3%** disk detection rate |
| - **77.4%** SIR (Susceptible, Intermediate, Resistant) categorical agreement |
| ## Task |
| ZOI 1.0 supports image-based AST analysis by detecting antimicrobial disks and measuring inhibition zones on agar plate images for research workflows. |
| ## Notes |
| This repository documents the application and its intended research scope. It does not constitute clinical validation, medical advice, or regulatory clearance. |
