Question about how Clef was trained
Hi! I’m a student learning about how modern AI models are trained, and I’m curious about Clef’s training process.
Was Clef mainly trained by fine-tuning on regular input-and-output examples, on full agent traces (the steps an agent takes before reaching an answer), or with reinforcement learning such as GRPO? Or was it a combination of these?
I’m trying to understand how training on agent traces differs from training based on rewards for the final result. If you’re able to share, what were the main stages of training, and were the intermediate steps or just the final decisions used as training targets?
Thanks for helping me learn!
