| > Baldur's Gate 3: .pak mods, modsettings.lsx, Script Extender. | |
| ## Mod folder and format | |
| `.pak` files go in `%LOCALAPPDATA%/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/Mods/`. Active mods are registered in `modsettings.lsx` (in the PlayerProfiles/Public folder); managers like BG3 Mod Manager or Vortex write it. Many mods need the BG3 Script Extender (Norbyte): verify the current version on its page. | |
| ## Sources | |
| Nexus Mods first, then the in-game Mod.io browser, then GitHub. | |
| ## Compatibility | |
| Game patches can break `.pak` mods and the Script Extender; check the mod page for the supported patch. | |
| ## Load order | |
| Set in the mod manager; reflected in `modsettings.lsx`. | |
| ## Logs | |
| Script Extender and game logs live under `%LOCALAPPDATA%/Larian Studios/Baldur's Gate 3/` (verify subfolders for the user's version). | |
| ## Common failures | |
| Mod not showing -> not registered in `modsettings.lsx`. Crash after patch -> outdated Script Extender or `.pak`. | |
