Ethnic Voices Tanzania
Preserving Tanzania's Indigenous Languages Through Open Data and Artificial Intelligence
Ethnic Voices Tanzania is a research initiative led by Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), dedicated to developing openly accessible speech and text resources for Tanzania's underrepresented indigenous languages.
The initiative currently focuses on six languages: Sukuma, Hehe, Zinza, Runyambo, Subi, and Luguru.
Our goal is to support language preservation and advance the development of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-to-Speech (TTS), and other AI-powered language technologies.
