Reframing AI as a composable system of abstractions comprised of individual intelligence technologies. Discrete, architecture agnostic modules that can run asynchronously within a larger context and fulfill a given role and satisfying a specified contract with other modules and or supervisor system. This framing allows progress toward AGI to be approached not by engineering and training the next massive model, but by improving smaller modules progressively in the case of established model paradigms but open to radical jumps in performance within a given domain by a new paradigm or model architecture. The role and contract abstraction then removes the friction of overall system improvement by allowing seamless exchange of one intelligence technology with a better module that fulfills the same role and contract but at a higher level of performance.
