Base Model?

Hi, I am attempting to use this, but I'm unclear what your base model(s) look like. Are you starting with an already pixelated 16-bit sprite, or just simply an image that you want your character to look like? I am currently not using any trained models, but rather images generated using SD 1.5 and the like.
My training images were various pixel sprite sheets from stardew valley mods.
