Field Notes: Building Tutori, a Whiteboard Tutor That Draws While It Talks

The whiteboard hand of Tutori, an AI tutor that draws while it speaks. Given one lesson step (topic, what's already on the board, the sentence being spoken), it emits Tutori's exact board-op JSON — placing shapes, curves, labels and notes neatly with no overlapping elements.
Fine-tuned with LoRA (r=16, language tower only) for 2 epochs on ProCreations/tutori-whiteboard-lessons v2: 7,109 programmatically constructed gold lesson steps across 8 diagram families and 78 topics, every example validated to render with zero overlaps without post-hoc layout correction. Final eval loss: 0.0239136703312397.
