Capitalism cannot be overthrown unless the proletariat is organized as a class for itself, capable of taking state power and expropriating the expropriators. When we prioritize “identity” over class we risk allowing the ruling class to set the terms of the debate: the liberal bourgeoisie loves “queer capitalism,” “woke” capitalism, “Black capitalism,” so long as these movements keep us fighting for crumbs inside the same imperialist system.

Conversely, when we organize on the basis of our common class interests—our shared exploitation as workers—we immediately break down the racial, national, and sexual barriers the ruling class erects. In the workplace, the mine, the warehouse, the care home, the kitchen, queer, Black, Indigenous, migrant and cis men all stand beside one another against the same boss. In struggle after struggle—Minneapolis sanitation workers, Amazon fulfillment centers, South African gold mines, Filipino call centers—we see that class organization is the only force capable of challenging capital on a global scale.

So queer liberation cannot be separated from class liberation; it is only through the dictatorship of the proletariat—through smashing the bourgeois state and building a new, socialist state under the leadership of the working class—that queer people, women, colonized nations, and oppressed nationalities can finally be free. That is why the fight for class liberation must be the axis around which all other struggles rotate, even while we wage them side by side.

They aren’t doing it just to keep brown people out; they are doing it to pre-empt any threat—especially a multi-racial working-class threat—that might actually succeed in undermining the dictatorship of capital itself. Therefore what we face is already, in embryo, a fascist state.

“What can we do?” In 1930s Spain, workers asked exactly the same question after the first fascist patrols appeared on the streets. They found that what actually worked was not the NGO petition, not the “safe city” ordinance, not the ACLU writ. What worked was:

A disciplined, armed proletarian political core—rooted in the factories and the barrios—built around a disciplined party whose purpose is to overthrow, not just reform, capitalism.
That party, organized inside the masses (not on top of them), must have a democratic-centralist structure so that tactical decisions against ICE raids can be made at the neighborhood level while overall direction is unified. Every unit of this core must tie its work to a program for dismantling the imperialist state itself. Fascism can only be strangled at birth if the forces that oppose it have a plan to replace the whole capitalist order with a workers’ dictatorship.

Mass armed self-defense: not the lone anarchist cell that will be immediately crushed by drones and helicopters, but neighborhood and workplace committees that coordinate clandestine cells in direct defense of the communities under siege.
A night ICE raid means the masses need weapons, barricades, and a communications network that can alert every block within minutes. That same network must simultaneously help organize general strikes—industrial, postal, transit, hospital—which alone have the material weight to stop ICE convoys from rolling.

A clear political line: U.S. fascism today grows precisely because it is anchored in settler-colonial expansion and the super-exploitation of imperialist surplus-value extracted from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Therefore a broad, united front against fascism that draws its strength from the Black, Chicanx, and migrant proletarian sections of society, but keeps its orientation toward a workers’ state, has to be anti-imperialist to the core. Every raid is carried out with guns and logistical support purchased by Gulfstream-owning monopolists; every deportation is financed by Wal-Mart’s sub-contracted profits. These links have to be made concrete in propaganda and organization; the slogan “Abolish ICE” is a necessary first step, but it remains rhetorical if it does not become: “Smash ICE, Overthrow the Capitalist System That Produces It.”

In short, we are not “demanding” a less fascist ICE. We are building, day by day and under conditions of increasing repression, the organs that can overthrow the entire state apparatus that breeds fascism. In 2024, Trump or Biden, the system moves toward open terror; the answer is not electoral reform, but insurrectionary proletarian power.
