Vertical aspect ratio HiRes fix doesn't work right

Anyone have any idea why this is happening? HiRes fix works for square or landscape aspect ratio images, but not portrait aspect ratios.
Experiencing this too. Upscale pass on vertical aspect ratio images seems to have checkboard or splotchy artifacts in the output image. Tried with both latent and pixel space upscalers, different step counts, but all results with some artifacts.

this is a very strange issue i don't fully understand. i generate at 1280x720 base usually, switching to 896x1152 SEEMED to help but not really, it definitely mostly affects vertical upscaling.
