Request for reconsideration of SAM 3.1 access for academic dataset annotation
Dear SAM Team,
My name is Moniun, and I am a PhD student at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I would like to request reconsideration of my rejected application for access to the SAM3 gating group, specifically the SAM 3.1 model.
My research focuses on object detection using complementary vision data. I plan to use SAM 3.1 to assist with annotating my research dataset by generating instance segmentation masks and corresponding bounding boxes from reconstructed RGB video frames. These annotations will be reviewed for quality before being used in subsequent research experiments.
The intended use is exclusively academic and non-commercial. Initially, I will evaluate the annotation quality on a short video sequence before considering broader use within the dataset.
