| ## Key Design Decisions | |
| ### Why isolated tool sets? | |
| Each step only sees relevant tools. This prevents the LLM from: | |
| - Using search tools during configuration (wasting iterations) | |
| - Skipping validation tools (they're the only option) | |
| - Getting confused by too many tool options | |
| ### Why explicit workflow order? | |
| Without it, the LLM frequently: | |
| - Restarts from scratch when validation fails | |
| - Calls information-gathering tools repeatedly instead of proceeding | |
| - Skips validation entirely and returns "success" | |
| ### Why "no markdown" instructions? | |
| LLMs learn formatting from examples. If your prompt examples show JSON in markdown code blocks, the LLM will output markdown code blocks. Always show raw JSON in examples. | |
| ### Why "no text before/after"? | |
| LLMs default to being conversational. Without this instruction, you get: | |

| The preamble and postamble break JSON parsing. Even with robust extraction (see `examples/robust_json_extraction.py`), it's better to prevent the issue in the prompt. | |
