Aster Live Transformer โ€” signed 4.343B state

This repository contains the actual materialized float32 parameter tensors and signed continuity evidence for Aster's step-132 state. It is a custom conventional block-dense transformer trained from random initialization with an intrinsic objective: predict its own next internal state and next error signal. A learned internal controller chooses adaptation and append growth.

This is a research checkpoint, not a pretrained general-purpose language model and not a stock AutoModel checkpoint. The included runtime and restore tool are required for its custom block layout.

Continued intrinsic learning and append growth

Step 129 selected width growth from 27 to 28. The internal controller selected growth index 1, adaptation index 0, scale 0.00390625, and backoff 0.015625. It retained and changed all 198,348 old tensor identities, removed none, and appended 14,962 plastic tensors.

Step 129 component Before After
Composite intrinsic loss 1.4141719341 1.3957724571
Future-state prediction loss 1.3870290518 1.3853347301
Future-error prediction loss 0.1085716933 0.0417511128

The newly created owner 27 was then placed under an internal controller decision. Exactly four controller tensors changed; every non-controller tensor remained unchanged. The owner contains 7,618 tensors and 598,344,192 payload bytes.

Step 131 was not forced to grow. The controller independently selected depth growth from 27 to 28, growth index 1, adaptation index 0, scale 0.00390625, and backoff 0.015625. It retained and changed all 213,310 existing tensor identities, removed none, and appended 7,840 plastic tensors.

Step 131 component Before After
Composite intrinsic loss 1.3955314159 1.3920845985
Future-state prediction loss 1.3853307962 1.3853341341
Future-error prediction loss 0.0408023596 0.0270018764

The slight future-state component increase is retained as measured rather than filtered out. Composite intrinsic loss and future-error prediction improved.

Across the two transitions, all 198,348 tensors from the prior public checkpoint changed and 22,802 real tensors were appended. Existing learned tensors were not replaced or frozen.

Continuity and verification

The final availability block records all 28 owners, 28 remote reads, 28 remote synchronizations, and two peer mirrors that both serve the exact 133-block final head. Before publication:

  • all 56 transition receipts and their 434,460 tensor entries were verified;
  • exact old, appended, and removed tensor sets were checked;
  • all 28 current pack commitments were streamed and verified;
  • a separate fresh process deserialized every one of the 221,150 current tensors and exactly recovered all shapes, counts, and bytes;
  • HEAD and the state manifest remained byte-identical during restart;
  • every exported shard SHA-256 and every tensor SHA-256/shape was independently reread and verified.

The independent export result is in checkpoint-verification.json.

To repeat tensor-level verification after downloading the complete repository:

python tools/restore_hf_checkpoint.py --repo-root . --verify-only

To reconstruct the public chain and worker-blob layout in a new empty directory:

python tools/restore_hf_checkpoint.py --repo-root . --output-chain ./restored-chain

Private signing keys are deliberately not published.

Repository layout

  • model-00001-of-00028.safetensors through model-00028-of-00028.safetensors: complete current state, one owner per shard.
  • model.safetensors.index.json: exact tensor-key-to-shard map.
  • aster-state-manifest.json: tensor identities, shapes, hashes, ownership, and packed-source commitments.
  • aster-export-manifest.json: export totals and per-shard checksums.
  • checkpoint-verification.json: independent full-tensor verification receipt.
  • chain/: signed block history, current head, and step-129/131 receipts.
  • runtime/: runtime bundle identified by the hash above.
  • tools/: export and restore/verification tools.
  • provenance/: objective boundary and retained failure archive.

Scope boundary

This checkpoint evidences a materialized 4.343B-parameter state with intrinsic learning, controller-selected append growth, exact restart, and continued learning. It does not establish language capability, production safety, consciousness, or trillion-parameter materialization. The retained 1.239T target topology remains unfinished.
