Retinex-RAWMamba: Bridging Demosaicing and Denoising for Low-Light RAW Image Enhancement

Low-light image enhancement, particularly in cross-domain tasks such as mapping from the raw domain to the sRGB domain, remains a significant challenge. Many deep learning-based methods have been developed to address this issue and have shown promising results in recent years. However, single-stage methods, which attempt to unify the complex mapping across both domains, leading to limited denoising performance. In contrast, existing two-stage approaches typically overlook the characteristic of demosaicing within the Image Signal Processing (ISP) pipeline, leading to color distortions under varying lighting conditions, especially in low-light scenarios. To address these issues, we propose a novel Mamba-based method customized for low light RAW images, called RAWMamba, to effectively handle raw images with different CFAs. Furthermore, we introduce a Retinex Decomposition Module (RDM) grounded in Retinex prior, which decouples illumination from reflectance to facilitate more effective denoising and automatic non-linear exposure correction, reducing the effect of manual linear illumination enhancement. By bridging demosaicing and denoising, better enhancement for low light RAW images is achieved. Experimental evaluations conducted on public datasets SID and MCR demonstrate that our proposed RAWMamba achieves state-of-the-art performance on cross-domain mapping. The code is available at https://github.com/Cynicarlos/RetinexRawMamba.

MambaRaw: Selective State Space Modeling for Efficient 4K Raw Image Reconstruction

In-camera JPEG previews are ubiquitous in raw image formats and provide an sRGB reference at negligible storage cost. Although existing metadata-based reconstruction frameworks can exploit this side information when recovering raw images, their context models often become computationally expensive especially at high resolution, eg, 4K raw image, given that attention mechanisms scale quadratically with feature maps, hindering its practical application. To address these limitations, we propose MambaRaw, a JPEG-conditioned metadata-based raw image reconstruction framework that uses State Space Models (SSMs) to estimate entropy parameters efficiently. Our key contribution comprises a Spatial-Energy Coupled Context Modeling mechanism with two lightweight modules: (1) TileMambaBlock, which performs Mamba-style selective scanning only on information-dense tiles to improve the efficiency; and (2) Energy-Aware Refinement (EAR), an identity-initialized residual module that enhance feature representation to match the long-tail energy distribution of raw signals. Extensive experiments on three camera datasets (Sony, Olympus, Samsung) show consistent improvements over strong metadata-based baselines and set a new state of the art for JPEG-guided raw reconstruction with great efficiency. Notably, at low metadata bitrates, MambaRaw increases PSNR by 1.2--1.4 dB and reduces end-to-end coding latency by about 9%. Code is released at https://github.com/Peizeli1/MambaRaw.

BG-REAL: A Public Real-Data Anchored Benchmark for Background Manipulation Detection and Localization

Background manipulation is a practical but under-specified image-forensics setting: the manipulated evidence can sit outside the salient foreground object, while many evaluations emphasize object-centric copy-move, splicing, or generic synthetic edits. We introduce BG-REAL, a public real-data anchored benchmark package for background manipulation detection and localization. The current release is built from Open Images V7 instance-segmentation sources and contains 7,000 processed samples over 1,200 source groups, including 6,000 public-data anchored samples and 1,000 synthetic control samples. BG-REAL covers six edit families, matched authentic controls, source-group splits, mask and leakage QA, 599 human-assisted quality-control rows, three completed external baselines (TruFor, MVSS-Net, and HiFi-Net), and five-seed model evaluation. Beyond aggregate accuracy, we use matched-authentic-control diagnostics to measure how often baselines misclassify re-encoded authentic images as manipulated at a threshold fixed on held-out validation data; false-positive rates range from 0.57 (TruFor, the lowest) to 1.00 (several weak or mask-informed baselines), indicating that re-encoding artifacts are a shared shortcut risk across baselines rather than a problem specific to any one model. The release provides the construction pipeline, evaluation protocol, paper-ready figures, and reproduction documentation. We frame BG-REAL as a background-manipulation-focused complement to general image-manipulation-localization benchmarks, not as a fully real-only or general-purpose benchmark.
