ForestSim: A Synthetic Benchmark for Intelligent Vehicle Perception in Unstructured Forest Environments

Robust scene understanding is essential for intelligent vehicles operating in natural, unstructured environments. While semantic segmentation datasets for structured urban driving are abundant, the datasets for extremely unstructured wild environments remain scarce due to the difficulty and cost of generating pixel-accurate annotations. These limitations hinder the development of perception systems needed for intelligent ground vehicles tasked with forestry automation, agricultural robotics, disaster response, and all-terrain mobility. To address this gap, we present ForestSim, a high-fidelity synthetic dataset designed for training and evaluating semantic segmentation models for intelligent vehicles in forested off-road and no-road environments. ForestSim contains 2094 photorealistic images across 25 diverse environments, covering multiple seasons, terrain types, and foliage densities. Using Unreal Engine environments integrated with Microsoft AirSim, we generate consistent, pixel-accurate labels across 20 classes relevant to autonomous navigation. We benchmark ForestSim using state-of-the-art architectures and report strong performance despite the inherent challenges of unstructured scenes. ForestSim provides a scalable and accessible foundation for perception research supporting the next generation of intelligent off-road vehicles. CARLA-Air: Fly Drones Inside a CARLA World -- A Unified Infrastructure for Air-Ground Embodied Intelligence

The convergence of low-altitude economies, embodied intelligence, and air-ground cooperative systems creates growing demand for simulation infrastructure capable of jointly modeling aerial and ground agents within a single physically coherent environment. Existing open-source platforms remain domain-segregated: driving simulators lack aerial dynamics, while multirotor simulators lack realistic ground scenes. Bridge-based co-simulation introduces synchronization overhead and cannot guarantee strict spatial-temporal consistency. We present CARLA-Air, an open-source infrastructure that unifies high-fidelity urban driving and physics-accurate multirotor flight within a single Unreal Engine process. The platform preserves both CARLA and AirSim native Python APIs and ROS 2 interfaces, enabling zero-modification code reuse. Within a shared physics tick and rendering pipeline, CARLA-Air delivers photorealistic environments with rule-compliant traffic, socially-aware pedestrians, and aerodynamically consistent UAV dynamics, synchronously capturing up to 18 sensor modalities across all platforms at each tick. The platform supports representative air-ground embodied intelligence workloads spanning cooperation, embodied navigation and vision-language action, multi-modal perception and dataset construction, and reinforcement-learning-based policy training. An extensible asset pipeline allows integration of custom robot platforms into the shared world. By inheriting AirSim's aerial capabilities -- whose upstream development has been archived -- CARLA-Air ensures this widely adopted flight stack continues to evolve within a modern infrastructure. AFRAgent : An Adaptive Feature Renormalization Based High Resolution Aware GUI agent

There is a growing demand for mobile user interface (UI) automation, driven by its broad applications across industries. With the advent of visual language models (VLMs), GUI automation has progressed from generating text-based instructions for humans to autonomously executing tasks, thus optimizing automation workflows. Recent approaches leverage VLMs for this problem due to their ability to 1) process on-screen content directly, 2) remain independent of device-specific APIs by utilizing human actions (e.g., clicks, typing), and 3) apply real-world contextual knowledge for task understanding. However, these models often have trouble accurately identifying widgets and determining actions due to limited spatial information in vision encoder features. Additionally, top-performing models are often large, requiring extensive training and resulting in inference delays. In this work, we introduce AFRAgent, an instruct-BLIP-based multimodal architecture that achieves superior performance in GUI automation while being less than one-fourth the size of its nearest competitor. To enhance image embeddings in the large language model (LLM) pipeline, we propose an adaptive feature renormalization-based (a token-level affine transformation) technique that effectively enriches low-resolution image embeddings and fuses high-resolution details. We evaluate AFRAgent on Meta-GUI and AITW benchmarks, establishing a new state-of-the-art baseline for smartphone automation.

Overcome the Fear Of Missing Out: Active Sensing UAV Scanning for Precision Agriculture

This paper deals with the problem of informative path planning for a UAV deployed for precision agriculture applications. First, we observe that the ``fear of missing out'' data lead to uniform, conservative scanning policies over the whole agricultural field. Consequently, employing a non-uniform scanning approach can mitigate the expenditure of time in areas with minimal or negligible real value, while ensuring heightened precision in information-dense regions. Turning to the available informative path planning methodologies, we discern that certain methods entail intensive computational requirements, while others necessitate training on an ideal world simulator. To address the aforementioned issues, we propose an active sensing coverage path planning approach, named OverFOMO, that regulates the speed of the UAV in accordance with both the relative quantity of the identified classes, i.e. crops and weeds, and the confidence level of such detections. To identify these instances, a robust Deep Learning segmentation model is deployed. The computational needs of the proposed algorithm are independent of the size of the agricultural field, rendering its applicability on modern UAVs quite straightforward. The proposed algorithm was evaluated with a simu-realistic pipeline, combining data from real UAV missions and the high-fidelity dynamics of AirSim simulator, showcasing its performance improvements over the established state of affairs for this type of missions.
