GeoCR: Learning a Generalist Cloud Removal Prior from Heterogeneous Observations

Cloud removal methods are typically specialized to individual datasets and input configurations, limiting reuse across sensors, spectral bands, and observation settings. We introduce GeoCR, a generalist model that unifies RGB-only-based CR and multispectral-based CR from single- or multi-temporal cloudy observations, with optional SAR guidance, within a single network. To accommodate different spectral and sensing domains, compact input and output stems extend a pretrained RGB autoencoder while keeping its encoder and decoder trunks frozen. This shared latent interface enables a single flow transformer to jointly model clean RGB and non-RGB latents, conditioned on separate cloudy-observation streams and optional SAR tokens. Through joint pretraining on the training splits of ten datasets comprising 883,331 cloud-free target images, GeoCR learns a shared cloud removal prior across these heterogeneous configurations. The same pretrained checkpoint supports direct inference without dataset-specific fine-tuning and efficient adaptation through low-rank adaptation (LoRA). We evaluate GeoCR against general image restoration and cloud removal methods on test splits of the contributing datasets under full-band and RGB-only settings. GeoCR achieves the best FID and DISTS on full-band SEN12MS-CR and Sen2_MTC_New and RGB-only CUHK-CR2, outperforming existing models and demonstrating the effectiveness of a reusable generative model across diverse settings.

ViCLIP-OT: The First Foundation Vision-Language Model for Vietnamese Image-Text Retrieval with Optimal Transport

Image-text retrieval has become a fundamental component in intelligent multimedia systems; however, most existing vision-language models are optimized for highresource languages and remain suboptimal for low-resource settings such as Vietnamese. This work introduces ViCLIP-OT, a foundation vision-language model specifically designed for Vietnamese image-text retrieval. The proposed framework integrates CLIP-style contrastive learning with a Similarity-Graph Regularized Optimal Transport (SIGROT) loss to enhance global cross-modal consistency and mitigate modality gap issues. Extensive experiments on three Vietnamese benchmarks (UITOpenViIC, KTVIC, and Crossmodal-3600) demonstrate that ViCLIP-OT consistently outperforms CLIP and SigLIP baselines in both in-domain and zero-shot settings. On UIT-OpenViIC, the model achieves an average Recall@K of 67.34%, improving upon CLIP by 5.75 percentage points. In zero-shot evaluation on Crossmodal-3600, ViCLIPOT surpasses CLIP by 11.72 percentage points. Embedding-space analysis further confirms improved alignment and reduced modality gap. The results indicate that integrating SIGROT provides an effective and scalable strategy for cross-modal retrieval in low-resource languages, offering practical implications for intelligent multimedia retrieval systems in Vietnamese and other underrepresented linguistic contexts.

ViCLSR: A Supervised Contrastive Learning Framework with Natural Language Inference for Natural Language Understanding Tasks

High-quality text representations are crucial for natural language understanding (NLU), but low-resource languages like Vietnamese face challenges due to limited annotated data. While pre-trained models like PhoBERT and CafeBERT perform well, their effectiveness is constrained by data scarcity. Contrastive learning (CL) has recently emerged as a promising approach for improving sentence representations, enabling models to effectively distinguish between semantically similar and dissimilar sentences. We propose ViCLSR (Vietnamese Contrastive Learning for Sentence Representations), a novel supervised contrastive learning framework specifically designed to optimize sentence embeddings for Vietnamese, leveraging existing natural language inference (NLI) datasets. Additionally, we propose a process to adapt existing Vietnamese datasets for supervised learning, ensuring compatibility with CL methods. Our experiments demonstrate that ViCLSR significantly outperforms the powerful monolingual pre-trained model PhoBERT on five benchmark NLU datasets such as ViNLI (+6.97% F1), ViWikiFC (+4.97% F1), ViFactCheck (+9.02% F1), UIT-ViCTSD (+5.36% F1), and ViMMRC2.0 (+4.33% Accuracy). ViCLSR shows that supervised contrastive learning can effectively address resource limitations in Vietnamese NLU tasks and improve sentence representation learning for low-resource languages. Furthermore, we conduct an in-depth analysis of the experimental results to uncover the factors contributing to the superior performance of contrastive learning models. ViCLSR is released for research purposes in advancing natural language processing tasks.
