Hello @staff ,

I am writing to formally request a Community Hardware Grant (such as a T4 Small or ZeroGPU) for our educational Space: fpll-limba1-0.

About the Project:
"Limba 1.0" is an educational AI assistant based on Llama 3.1 (8B, GGUF), specifically designed for the students of the "Liceo Scientifico E. Fermi" (a scientific high school in Nuoro, Italy).

This initiative is part of the "Progetto Margherita", funded by the Fondo per la Repubblica Digitale and the Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, in partnership with the tech organizations Formatica and Lariso.

Why we need the Grant:

Student Involvement: The students actively participated in creating the dataset and testing the model. We need a fluid, fast response time to use the AI live in the classroom during STEM lessons (Physics, Math, Computer Science).

Cultural Preservation: The model is fine-tuned to interact not only in Italian but also in Sardinian, serving as a technological bridge to preserve a local minority language while teaching advanced scientific concepts.

Current Limitations: We are currently running on the free Basic CPU tier. The inference time is too slow for a synchronous classroom environment, breaking the natural conversational flow needed for teaching.

A hardware upgrade would allow hundreds of students to seamlessly interact with the AI they helped build, providing a massive boost to our digital literacy goals.

Thank you for your time and for supporting open-source education!

Best regards,

Francesco Palladino
