## About

Great North Collective is an open community of Canadian researchers, engineers, companies, builders, and institutions working together to advance **sovereign AI** in Canada.

We believe Canada should control its own AI future — the models, the data, the infrastructure, and the values that shape them. We focus on:

- Open-source models and datasets
- Canadian data sovereignty and privacy realities
- Northern and remote infrastructure challenges
- Reducing reliance on foreign AI platforms
- Collaboration across universities, startups, governments, and individuals
