API and provenance catalog

Crossref REST API

• Provider: https://www.crossref.org/documentation/retrieve-metadata/rest-api/
• Query: GET https://api.crossref.org/works?query.bibliographic=...&rows=7&select=DOI,title,author,published,issued,created,container-title,URL
• DOI lookup: GET https://api.crossref.org/works/{DOI}
• Purpose: bibliography metadata only (title, authors, year, venue, DOI and URL).
• Limitations: missing/inaccurate records; no article full text; response rate limits / CORS variability.

World Bank Indicators API v2

• Provider: https://datahelpdesk.worldbank.org/knowledgebase/articles/898581
• Pattern: GET https://api.worldbank.org/v2/country/{ISO3}/indicator/{code}?format=json&per_page=80&date=2005:2026
• Purpose: latest non-null numeric annual observation within the period and country/indicator combination.
• Unit labels in engine.js; observational years must be displayed verbatim.
• Supported indicator codes: SE.PRM.CMPT.ZS, SE.TER.ENRR, NY.GDP.PCAP.CD, SP.DYN.LE00.IN, IT.NET.USER.ZS, SL.UEM.TOTL.ZS.
• Source coverage varies. An absent or null value is not replaced with a fabricated zero.

Fictional demonstrations

• Defined in demo.js and DEMO_SESSION.json.
• Every publication, excerpt, country-like entity, value and hypothesis there is invented and labeled SYNTHETIC.
• Do not cite these records in papers, LinkedIn results, policy memoranda, or factual reports.

Live deployment test

After uploading to Hugging Face, open the App and attempt one Crossref search and one World Bank fetch. The service may be temporarily unavailable, blocked by CORS or rate-limited. A simulated browser test does not prove either external connection works live.
