Apply for a GPU community grant: Blum Financial Intelligence Engine
Hello Hugging Face Team,
My name is Renato, and I am an independent developer currently building Blum, a fully open-source Financial Intelligence Engine hosted on Hugging Face.
Blum is not a commercial project, startup, or funded company initiative. It is a personal open-source research project developed in my spare time with the goal of exploring how modern open-source AI can be used to build transparent, explainable and continuously improving financial intelligence systems.
Unlike traditional stock screeners or black-box prediction systems, Blum is designed around a simple principle:
Every conclusion should be explainable.
The project combines multiple research areas into a single platform:
- Market-wide intelligence
- Financial news analysis
- Narrative detection
- Sentiment analysis
- Technical analysis
- Historical pattern recognition
- Benchmark validation
- Decision quality evaluation
- Portfolio intelligence
- Learning systems that evaluate past decisions and improve future ones
One of the most exciting aspects of the project is that Blum is evolving into a self-evaluating research engine. Rather than simply generating signals, it continuously measures:
- What worked
- What failed
- Which opportunities were missed
- Which decisions added value
- Which decisions destroyed value
- Whether its conclusions outperform or underperform benchmarks
- How future decision quality can be improved
The long-term vision is to create one of the most transparent and explainable open-source financial intelligence projects available to the community.
Everything is being developed publicly on Hugging Face and designed to remain open and reproducible.
Why I am requesting a GPU grant
At the moment, I am developing Blum entirely as an independent project and do not have the financial resources to consistently fund dedicated GPU infrastructure.
Additional compute would allow me to:
- Evaluate and benchmark open-source language models
- Experiment with multimodal financial analysis
- Test chart-understanding models
- Improve narrative and sentiment reasoning systems
- Run larger-scale research experiments
- Validate learning-loop improvements
- Explore future fine-tuning workflows using datasets generated by Blum itself
Most importantly, it would allow me to accelerate development of a project that is intended to remain openly available to the community rather than behind a commercial paywall.
Why I believe Blum is a good candidate
Blum is not focused on hype or prediction claims.
The project focuses on:
- Explainability
- Transparency
- Benchmark-based evaluation
- Reproducible research
- Open-source collaboration
- Continuous learning from evidence
I believe it can become an interesting case study showing how multiple open-source AI models can be orchestrated into a transparent financial intelligence platform while remaining auditable and explainable.
Any GPU resources granted would be used exclusively to advance the open-source development and research efforts behind Blum.
