# Free D&D Quest Generator
This Space is a free **DnD quest generator** built for the person who actually has to
run the adventure: the Dungeon Master. Give it a quest type, a party level, or nothing
at all, and it generates a complete, runnable quest β€” not a one-line premise, but a
full multi-scene arc with a hook, a quest giver who's hiding something, complications
that force real decisions, a twist, an antagonist, and a reward sized to your party.
## What it generates
Every result is a structured quest sheet:
- **A title and hook** β€” how the party learns of the quest and why it pulls them in
- **A quest giver who withholds something** β€” a stake, a lie, or a blind spot that
connects to the twist
- **A plain objective and a named location** with sensory detail you can read aloud
- **Exactly three complications** β€” obstacles that change the plan mid-quest and force
the party to choose between real options, never just delays
- **A twist** that recontextualizes the quest without invalidating it β€” everything the
party did still matters, it just means something different
- **An antagonist** with a motivation, methods, and a stat block suggestion
- **A concrete reward scaled to the party's level** β€” a coin range, an item, a favor,
or faction standing
- **Two follow-up hooks** showing where the quest leads next
- **A DM summary** β€” a three-to-four-sentence prep card you can run the session from
Output is rendered as Markdown with one-click copy and a `.md` download, so it drops
straight into Obsidian, Notion, or your prep notes.
## Inputs
Quest type (Rescue, Retrieval, Mystery, Heist, Escort, Defense, Exploration, Faction
Politics, Monster Hunt, Delivery Gone Wrong β€” or type your own), party level (1-20),
party size (2-7), setting or region, tone (Heroic through Horror-tinged), a quest
giver idea, a tie-in to a player character ("the rogue's old guild"), scope, and
free-form notes. **Every field is optional** β€” blanks become creative freedom, and the
Surprise Me button rolls a type, level, tone, and scope for you. The scope setting
shapes the output: One-shot quests resolve in a single session, Short arcs give each
complication a session of its own, and Campaign threads point both follow-up hooks at
something larger.
## Example
> **The Last Light of Gullwrack Point** β€” three ships have wrecked on the shoals and
> the lighthouse has gone dark, so the harbor council hires the party to find keeper
> Edda Brant and relight the lamp before the grain fleet arrives. But Edda isn't
> missing β€” she's hiding from the Cormorant Ring, the smuggling crew that's been
> dark-lantern signaling ships onto the rocks β€” and the councilman who posted the
> bounty is on their payroll. A level-4 rescue that curdles into a mystery, with a
> collapsed cliff road, a sea-cave parley, and a storm-night finale against
> quartermaster Silda Vane.
The full version of this example β€” with all structured fields β€” is on the page below
the generator.
## Using generated quests at the table
Read the DM summary aloud to yourself before the session β€” if you can say the shape of
the quest in four sentences, you can improvise the rest. Fire complications when the
pacing sags rather than on a schedule, reskin the named locations onto your own map,
and wire the twist to a player character for double impact. The page below the tool
includes fuller guidance on scaling, pacing, and reward budgets by level.
## AI output disclaimer
Quests are AI-generated drafts. Review them, edit freely, and adapt anything that
doesn't fit your table or setting. This is an unofficial fan tool: Dungeons & Dragons

## Built by Loreify
This generator is built and maintained by [Loreify](https://loreify.ai), the AI
session scribe for D&D groups: record or upload your session audio and Loreify turns
it into organized notes β€” NPCs, quests, loot, locations, and lore β€” automatically.
Your quest starts here; [Loreify](https://loreify.ai/start-trial?utm_source=huggingface&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=dnd_quest_generator&utm_content=readme)
remembers how your party actually finishes it. 7-day free trial.
