McKinsey Presentation Framework & Principles
Core Concept: The Pyramid Principle Developed by Barbara Minto (ex-McKinsey), this is the gold standard for executive communication.
Start with the Answer (Bottom Line Up Front - BLUF):
- Executives are busy. Don't build up to a conclusion; state it first.
- Structure: Conclusion -> Key Arguments -> Supporting Data.
The SCR Framework (Storytelling):
- Situation: The context, fact-based, non-controversial (e.g., "Market is growing...").
- Complication: The problem or trigger (e.g., "...but our share is declining").
- Resolution: Your solution/recommendation (e.g., "Launch product X to regain share").
Slide Design Rules (McKinsey Style):
- Action Titles: Every slide title must be a full sentence summarizing the main takeaway (e.g., "Revenue grew 15% due to new product launch"). Reading only the titles should tell the whole story.
- One Idea Per Slide: Don't clutter.
- MECE (Mutually Exclusive, Collectively Exhaustive): Arguments should not overlap and should cover the whole problem.
- Visuals: Use charts (waterfall, bar, mekko) to prove the point, not just decorate.
TDC Erhverv Brand Context (inferred):
- Colors: Dark Blue (#0000BF), Iron Grey (#E6E7E8), White, Black.
- Tone: Professional, Reliable, Innovative, Solution-Oriented.
- Products: One+, 5G+, Sikker Fiber, Managed Cloud (Azure), Teams.
Application in WidgeTDC Generator:
The TDCSolutionWidget and TDCService are designed to emulate this structure:
- Slide 1 (Title): Clear context.
- Slide 2 (Situation/Complication): Restates customer need clearly.
- Slide 3 (Resolution): Presents the solution components (MECE).
- Slide 4 (Next Steps): Clear call to action.
