Off-Grid Field Repair Logbook: AI Diagnostics Without the Cloud

Why We Built It

Field technicians—whether working on remote solar farms, deep in national forests, or at isolated off-grid cabins—face a unique challenge: when equipment breaks, they often have zero internet connectivity. Without the ability to Google a symptom or download a manual, troubleshooting complex machinery can become dangerous and time-consuming. We realized the need for an advanced diagnostic tool that brings the power of modern AI to the most remote corners of the globe.

What It Does

The Off-Grid Field Repair Logbook is a fully offline, self-contained Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system. Technicians can import vast libraries of technical manuals (.pdf, .txt, .md) into the app before heading into the field. On-site, they can log job details, input symptoms, and attach photos. The local AI instantly searches the indexed manuals, cross-references symptoms, and provides step-by-step diagnostic advice along with exact citations from the source manuals.

What's Its Purpose

The purpose of this app is to ensure safety, efficiency, and operational continuity in disconnected environments. By putting a massive, searchable knowledge base and an AI reasoning engine directly onto a technician's ruggedized laptop or local network, it eliminates the dependency on the cloud. It acts as an expert digital co-pilot that is always available, no matter how far off the grid the job takes you.
