What Plainword Prep and this site collect, and what they never will.

Your practice sessions stay on your Mac. One thing leaves: when you ask for a debrief, that session's transcript, your note and the case's labels go to our server for that one answer and are not stored by us or by the model's host.

The beta form

The site collects only what you send in the Mac beta form: your email, where you are with the exam, your exam month and year if you give them, the state where you will be licensed, your Mac's chip, memory and macOS version, how you are studying now, and anything you write in the free text box. If you came from the link on PsychTerms, the form also sends one hidden field that says so (from=psychterms), and nothing about which page you were reading. We ask for no name, no phone number and no practice.

The form is handled by Formspree. It keeps a copy in its dashboard and sends one to Vishnu's inbox. Nobody else receives it. Both copies are deleted when the beta ends, or sooner if you ask. We use your email only to send you the beta build and to answer you.

Please do not describe a real client in the form.

This site

The beta form is the only thing on this site that sends anything. The site has no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Its fonts and images come from this site, not from anyone else.

The Mac app

The Mac app is not out yet. The sections below are how version 1 handles your practice sessions, from Plainword Prep's data spec, version 0.6.

On your Mac

Everything runs on your Mac: the microphone and transcription, the client and its voice, the check of your note against the session, and every count in the logbook. Audio is never kept.

The session itself (the transcript, the intake, your note and edits, the tutor's debrief and your answers, and the client's state) is kept on your Mac, encrypted, for as long as you keep it. The logbook stays on your Mac too, and you can export it to a file. Your reading and your Reference lookups stay on your Mac.

What leaves your Mac

One call, when you ask for a debrief.

The one call that leaves your Mac, where it goes, and what is kept
WhenSent from your MacToKept after the reply
You ask for a debrief the masked transcript; the intake; your masked note; the facts found in your note, with the lines they came from; the case's labels and the exam entries; this session's counts; the App Store's proof of purchase our server, which passes it to the tutor model at Together Nothing. Zero retention is on at Together. Our logs keep no content. Access logs (IP address, time and route) are kept for 14 days, then deleted.

The mask

Before the debrief call, your Mac hides phone numbers, emails, street addresses, and any name that is not in the case. The transcript and note it sends are the masked versions; the unmasked text stays on your Mac.

The mask is a help, not a promise. It does not catch numbers spoken as words, such as "five five five, one two one two". Please never describe a real client in a practice session.

No accounts

There are no accounts. No sign-in, no email, no password. Everything stays on the Mac where you played it.

Paying

The beta is free on TestFlight. At launch, you buy Plainword Prep through the Mac App Store: $99 a year, with a 7-day free trial that the store runs. The debrief call carries the App Store's proof of purchase, which our server checks; in the beta it carries TestFlight's proof of install instead. We never see your Apple ID or your card details.

What our servers hold

The tutor service holds a session's text only while it writes the debrief, and discards it after the reply. Access logs (IP address, time and route, never content) are kept for 14 days, then deleted. Nothing else: no accounts and no stored sessions.
