Project: Old Prussian / Baltic language model playground
This Space is a free, non-commercial demo where visitors can try out several open models for Old Prussian โ an extinct Baltic language under active reconstruction and revitalization (Palmaitis/Klussis) -
related low-resource languages. It currently showcases LoRA fine-tunes of open Apache-2.0 base models (e.g. utter-project/EuroLLM), on Tatoeba.org parallel corpus, and will be extended with further models and variants over time for comparison.
The purpose is educational and research-oriented: giving linguists, learners and the Baltic-language community an easy way to experiment with these models in the browser and provide feedback. No commercial
use, no user data collection.
Why ZeroGPU: The models run only short, on-demand inference requests, and several are loaded in 4-bit (a 9B model is ~6 GB), so ZeroGPU's per-request allocation fits perfectly โ no always-on dedicated GPU
is needed. On the free CPU tier (2 vCPU) a single generation takes tens of minutes, which makes the demo unusable; a GPU brings it down to seconds.
