BioVoices - Project Vocal: Real-time Animal Sound Decoder
Description:
I am building an web application that uses AI to analyze and interpret animal sounds in real time. The project allows users to upload or record animal audio, and leverages state-of-the-art models (like NatureLM-audio and some other open source models) to identify species, decode vocalizations, and provide insights for research, education, and citizen science.
Why I need a GPU:
The core ML model is large and inference is slow on CPU. Access to a GPU will enable much faster, real-time analysis for users, improve the experience, and allow for more advanced models and features.
Why I need persistent storage:
Persistent storage will allow me to cache model weights, store user analysis history, and save logs/results for further research and improvement.
Open Science/Community Impact:
This project is open-source and aims to support the bioacoustics and conservation community by making advanced animal sound analysis accessible to everyone.
