🤔 Why this matters: When we use "free" online AI services, we're often the product. Our conversations become training data, our personal stories get "cooked into" models, and our privacy becomes a commodity. But there's an alternative path forward.
💡 The power shift is real: Local LLMs aren't just about privacy; they're about redistributing AI power away from a handful of tech giants. When individuals, organizations, and even entire nations can run their own models, we're democratizing access to AI capabilities.
🤗 At Hugging Face, we're proud to be at the center of this transformation. Our platform hosts the world's largest library of freely downloadable models, making cutting-edge AI accessible to everyone -- from researchers and developers to curious individuals who want to experiment on their laptops or even smartphones.
The technical barriers that once required $$$ server racks are crumbling. Today, anyone with basic computer skills can download a model, run it locally, and maintain complete control over their AI interactions. No sudden algorithm changes, no data harvesting, no corporate gatekeeping.
This is about technical convenience, but especially about technological sovereignty. When AI power is concentrated in a few hands, we risk creating new forms of digital dependency. Local models offer a path toward genuine AI literacy and independence.

I couldn't watch innocent people get their rights trampled anymore. So I built something to help.
Stories of families torn apart, U.S. citizens detained for hours, people arrested just for speaking Spanish. This isn't the America I believe in.
Instead of doom-scrolling, I spent a few days building FIREWATCH - a free civil rights protection app.
What it does:
• Real-time ICE raid alerts
• Know Your Rights education in 10+ languages
• Secure evidence recording
• Emergency panic button
• Legal hotlines and resources
• 100% private, no tracking
The catch? There isn't one. You just need a free Google API key that stays on your device. Works completely offline.

I built this because everyone deserves constitutional protection. The 4th Amendment doesn't have an asterisk.
If this helps one family stay safe, every sleepless night was worth it.

📚 Archive of Our Own (AO3) Dataset - nyuuzyou/archiveofourown
Collection of approximately 12.6 million fanfiction works (from 63.2M processed IDs) featuring:
- Full text content from diverse fandoms across television, film, books, anime, and more
- Comprehensive metadata including warnings, relationships, characters, and tags
- Multilingual content with works in 40+ languages though English predominant
- Rich classification data preserving author-created folksonomy and content categorization
P.S. This is the most expensive dataset I've created so far! And also, thank you all for the 100 followers on Hugging Face!
