| # Commercial & Proprietary Licensing | |
| `open-xdna` is released under the **GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPLv3)** — | |
| see [`LICENSE`](LICENSE). The AGPLv3 is a strong network-copyleft license: if you modify | |
| this software or use it to provide a service over a network (including AI inference APIs, | |
| SaaS pipelines, or cloud-side compute offloading), AGPLv3 §13 requires you to make the | |
| complete corresponding source of your application available to its users under the same | |
| terms. | |
| ## When you need a commercial license | |
| The AGPLv3 is ideal for open-source and research use. You should obtain a **separate | |
| commercial / proprietary license** if you want to: | |
| - Integrate `open-xdna` (or its techniques as implemented here) into a closed-source | |
| product or internal service **without** the AGPLv3 source-disclosure obligation; | |
| - Offer a hosted/SaaS service built on this code without publishing your backend; | |
| - Ship it inside proprietary firmware, an appliance, or an OEM product; | |
| - Obtain a warranty, indemnification, or a support/SLA arrangement. | |
| This is a standard open-core dual-licensing model: the same code is available under | |
| AGPLv3 (free, copyleft) **or** a commercial license (paid, no copyleft obligations). | |
| ## Acquisition & partnership | |
